“Fire element” – A Kum Nye Retreat with Maura Sills
This Retreat is part of a Kum Nye Training for those who are wanting to teach Kum Nye, or to deepen their experience with Kum Nye. It is also possible to attend it as a single Retreat.
We are linking each of our four five-day Retreats to the Seasons including the Elemental Qualities and how they manifest in our embodied presence, including particular Qualities of Being.
Fire relates to the impulse before action and a quality that can reveal as Vitality. It also relates to a Clarity or Insight, a cutting through of confusion. This quality is called Vajra, a diamond like quality that cuts like a thunderbolt. This Vitality is a necessary aspect of the awaking process, Energy, Virya.
The Paramita, essential qualities of heart support the enquiry in these Retreats. During this Training we will include practices from Kum Nye and Mindfulness that help us cultivate generosity; discipline; patience; diligence; concentration and wisdom. The Buddha spoke about ten perfections or parami. Later these were described as six perfections within Mahayana Buddhism. Whether ten or six, these qualities were recognized as needing to be cultivated in order to become fully self- awakened.
You need to feel comfortable with silent retreats.
This Retreat is organized in collaboration with Camilla Crispino and Chiara Mancini (www.chiaramancini.it).
Date and venue
The Retreat will be held from from from Wednesday 14th of October to Sunday 18th of October 2026 in Northern Italy in the lovely surroundings of Maguzzano Abbey on Lake Garda in Via Maguzzano 4, Lonato (BS).
The Abbey is less than 15 minutes drive from the train station of Desenzano, from which you can reach it with a local taxi (cost approx. 15 euros).
The closest international airport is Verona (about 35 minutes drive) or Bergamo Orio al Sorio (1 hour drive).
Partecipation fee
For the teacher and the translator Dana (donation) is to be left locally.
The fee for this Retreat is 150 € plus 25 € for the annual registration in the organization. Please understand that this fee covers only organizational expenses and it has to be paid at the moment of the enrollment.

The cost for room and board is 80 euros per night in single room with private bathroom or 60 euros per night in double room with private bathroom. It has to be paid locally.
Maura Sills is the Founder of Core Process Psychotherapy which offers an innovative psycho-spiritual approach to therapy. The Karuna Institute integrates western psychotherapeutic models with Buddhist psychology and mindfulness practices. Drawing on over 40 years of experience, Core Process Psychotherapy offers a depth understanding of what helps and hinders healing insight and transformation.
Maura is an Honorary Fellow of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and Director of Training at the Karuna Institute which offers Master Degree Programmes in Buddhist Mindfulness Based Psychotherapy along with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Retreat.
